THEY say “you can’t spin (or felt) alpaca fibre” THEY'RE WRONG!  Not only can it be done, but it is quite easy and the results are spectacular.

You’ve probably heard that just learning to treadle is a skill in itself and, for some people quite difficult – we have the answer to that – learn to spin on our Roberta Electronic Spinners.  They are small, quiet and amazingly easy to use.  Of course if you wish to bring your traditional wheel, you are welcome to do so.

What better way to learn the ancient art of spinning than in a rural setting surrounded by the delightful animals which have provided you with their fibre?

We invite you to come and spin with the Llamas and Alpacas and enjoy your lesson time at "Alpaca Magic" learning this ancient and useful craft.

In this series of 3 workshops you will learn to spin from a raw fleece, from commercially carded (combed) fleece. You will learn to card, spin and ply, wash and skein your own alpaca and llama fibre to take home. You will be ready to begin your own spinning projects at home. 

At the end of our first class, you are welcome to meet our many alpacas & llamas, inspect the fleece of both on and off these animals; learn how to select fibre that is suitable for spinning, and more importantly – what fibre to reject and why. 

You will have the use of our Roberta Electronic Spinners at your class, and the opportunity to have extra practice session in between each class if you wish.

We will provide a starter pack which will include a variety of fleece for spinning, notes, tea & coffee. Extra natural fibre & carded tops in natural & dyed colours will be available for purchase.

Wear comfortable clothes, sensible shoes. Bring a camera if you like.
